Fantasy Survivor Series Card #4
Well this is it, the last fantasy Survivor Series card. I go back to the five on five format but I stay with the WWE Hall of Fame. The first two matches on this card were perhaps the easiest matches to create for this Survivor Series, meanwhile the last two were perhaps the hardest to create during the entire four weeks. But I have to say I like this card myself, took a lot of time to write and put together. So without a further a do here is the fourth and final Survivor Series card.
Dusty Rhodes (Captain), Sting, Hawk, Animal & Paul Ellering vs. Ric Flair (Captain), Barry Windham, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard & James J. Dillon
This was the biggest no brainer to create a main event. Bring the fans of the 80’s NWA with the group of its time against its biggest enemies. So much history with all ten men in the main event that the hype machine wouldn’t need to be used that match everybody knows the history.
David Von Erich (Captain), Kevin Von Erich, Kerry Von Erich, Mike Von Erich & Fritz Von Erich vs. Michael Hayes (Captain), Terry Gordy, Buddy Roberts, Jimmy Garvin & Abdullah the Butcher
This was the other match that was a no brainer. Have the four most well known Von Erich brothers plus there father involved in the match to face the Freebirds with an ally that has the same enemy in Abdullah the Butcher. Almost like the main event it needs no hype, the hype is right there in the match itself with all the participants.
Hulk Hogan & Randy Savage (Captains), Bob Backlund & Pedro Morales, Luke & Butch, Jimmy Snuka & Ricky Steamboat and Junkyard Dog & George Steele vs. Afa & Sika (Captains), Nikolai Volkoff & Iron Sheik, Ted DiBiase & Jim Duggan, Roddy Piper & Paul Orndorff and Jimmy & Johnny Valiant
With four of the biggest teams already used up for Survivor Series, this match was very hard to put together. I had to really go back into my memory and think of actual teams that have been together. Using Hogan and Savage as the captains is a fun and creative way to bring back the Mega Powers even if it’s for one match. Another thing that I’m sure people will see that pops right out is Ted DiBiase and Jim Duggan on the same team opposing Hogan and Savage. They were a team while in the Mid-South and would be very interesting to see if they can work together as a team to help the overall team in this match.
Verne Gagne (Captain), Lou Thesz, Frank Gotch, Bobo Brazil & Pat O’Connor vs. Buddy Rogers (Captain), Harley Race, George Hackenschmidt, Gorgeous George & Nick Bockwinkel
I wanted to make a match using some of the older wrestlers that a lot of the younger fans might not have heard of or have only heard of in stories and pictures and have never seen matches of them. Using two men who were champions at the same time in Gagne and Rogers as captains was easy but picking the partners was very hard and it was hard to leave very good wrestlers off this match. But you have to go with the wrestlers you selected and these ten men would have a very good match with each other.
That does it, this was the last Survivor Series card. What was your favorite card and what was your favorite match created? Let me know what you thought. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to check out the website and reading the articles.
